LEARNING TO LOVE THE JOURNEY

⠀LASTING weight loss, done the right way, takes TIME. A lot of time, actually. Because you’re not crash dieting just to gain the weight back again. You’re taking a purposeful, slow-and-steady approach, so you don’t need to ride the “weight loss roller coaster” again and again. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀

Weight loss is NOT a linear process. You will see the number on the scale go up and down every single day. Don’t let these fluctuations discourage you from continuing along your healthy path. You’re likely making progress every day and quitting will not get you there any faster. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀

Ok, ok, okkkkkk… you need to be patient. You know that. So here are some other things to consider and keep you motivated for the long-term:⠀⠀

Take progress photos and measurements NOW. Retake and compare in 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, etc. If you get off-track, get right back on. ONE meal or ONE day in a week (or month) is not going to derail your progress. Learn from it and move on. Also, consider: Maybe you’re not ACTUALLY off-track. Maybe it’s just YOUR track to a truly balanced lifestyle. ⠀

LIVE your life. Your “diet” and workouts should not take over your life. If anything, they should ENHANCE your way of living. And you should LOVE how you eat and exercise. If either makes you miserable (even a little bit), they won’t be sustainable. Think about what you WANT to do! ⠀ ⠀

And remember: You’ve got this. Anything worth having is worth waiting for.
